Touring Piedmont with “Borghi in Carrozza”
“Viaggio Italia Around the World” goes on, with a tour of Piedmont to discover some of the region’s most̀ suggestive locations.
The project, conceived in 2015 by Luca Paiardi – architect, musician and Paralympic athlete – and Danilo Ragona – planner, designer and founder and president of the company Able to Enjoy – was born with a big goal: to show and demonstrate to everyone the many possibilities of travel and experience available to people with disabilities.
The two travelers on wheelchairs, who have already landed in four continents and touched numerous countries around the world, opened 2023 with “Borghi in Carrozza” (Villages by Carriage), a route in stages to discover some of the most typical and evocative locations in Piedmont. A new adventure, set off from Turin on March 26, aboard a historic 1973 Lancia Fulvia Montecarlo from the Classica & Accessibile project promoted by ASI Solidale, specifically outfitted with steering wheel controls.
Once again, the experience will be accompanied by a solidarity initiative: Borghi in Carrozza is linked to the project “Una carrozzina in una capanna: una porta sul mondo” (A wheelchair in a hut: a door on the world) promoted by the NGO Amici del Mondo – World Friend ONLUS and the Benefit Organization Custom Regeneration. The goal, supported by an active crowdfunding campaign on the Eppela platform, is to recover and recondition disused wheelchairs in Italy and make them available to people with disabilities living in the shanty towns of Nairobi, Kenya, in order to improve their living conditions.
As with every Viaggio Italia Around the World adventure, Borghi in Carrozza also sees the presence of Stellantis Autonomy alongside Luca and Danilo, who take their journeys on the brand’s vehicles.
